What type of pet insurance products does Petplan offer?

Petplan offers two types of pet insurance policies: Covered For Life®, designed for ongoing help with vet bills, and Essential, designed for short-term help with vet bills.

Our Covered For Life® plan provides ongoing help with vet bills. You can continue to claim year after year for the same condition up to your chosen yearly limit providing you renew with no break in cover.

Our Essential plan provides short term help with vet bills. You can claim for 12 months treatment up to £3,000 for each illness/injury. Once you reach either of these limits the condition will no longer be covered.

If I am hospitalised with COVID-19 and have to isolate when I return home will you cover the cost of the boarding establishment for my pet until I can collect them?

Accepted Answer

Yes, where you are instructed to isolate and go straight home we will continue to cover the cost of the boarding fees for your pet until you are able to get them home (or until the max benefit has been reached).

Question 4

When will my first Direct Debit payment be due?

Your first payment will be taken 7 - 10 days after you have taken out your policy with us. This payment time will apply whether you have taken out a full policy with no discount in place or if you took your policy out online. If you have any questions regarding your payment details or you wish to change the date your payments are made on each month please contact our customer service team on 0345 071 8000.

I received an offer for 1 year’s free access to identialert. How do I claim this?

Accepted Answer

When you purchased your Petplan policy, you should have received a welcome email. If you’re eligible to receive the identialert offer, there will be a code in the email. Go online to your identibase account and enter the code at checkout to receive 1 year’s free access to identialert. If you didn’t receive a welcome email, please get in touch by completing the online form, or by calling us on 0345 071 8000. Ts&Cs apply.

I'm a dog/cat breeder. How can I work with Petplan?

With a Petplan Instant Puppy Policy and Instant Kitten Policy you can make sure your puppies or kittens are covered by a period of free insurance from Petplan when you see them off to their new homes. Petplan Instant Puppy or Kitten Policies are free for you to issue and are free to the new owner. They are quick and simple to use and give you and the new owner maximum peace of mind by providing immediate cover for unexpected vet fees, death and loss by theft or straying. What's more, with each Instant Policy you activate you, will receive Breeder Bonus credits that can be exchanged for a range of high street vouchers. Can I get a Petplan policy outside the UK?

Our Petplan policies are only available to residents of the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. We can offer dog, cat and rabbit insurance to British Forces Posted Overseas, as long as they are serving in Europe and can provide a BFPO mailing address.
