What is your Claims Pricing Guarantee?

Your price will increase every year as your pet gets older, but with Petplan you won’t pay more for claiming.

In fact, if your pet needs treatment we want you to claim to get the best care for your pet when they need it.

Does Petplan offer travel insurance for pets?

Yes we do, this benefit is available as standard on all of our Covered For Life ® polices, however this does not include Legal Liability Cover abroad. For further information please refer to your Terms and Conditions or alternatively you can call our customer service centre on 0345 071 8000.

How are Petplan premiums calculated?

Petplan has been providing dog, cat and rabbit insurance for over 45 years, and we use this experience to help us price policies accurately for each individual pet. We design our policies to pay out, so we price policies to enable us to cover the cost of the veterinary care your pet may need. The size, breed, location and age of your pet are some of the factors we’ll take into consideration when calculating your premiums.

Our Claims Pricing Guarantee means that you will never pay more for claiming. Your price will increase every year as your pet gets older and the cost of treating pets increases, but with Petplan you won’t pay more for claiming. Do you offer Legal Liability cover?

Yes, our Covered For Life® and Essential dog policies automatically include Legal Liability cover – in addition to cover for Vet Bills, Pet Therapies, Emergency Boarding and Holiday Cancellation. Our Legal Liability insurance covers dog owners for compensation, legal bills and the associated costs related to defending claims brought against them. How much will pet insurance cost?

The price of pet insurance can vary enormously and is dependent on a range of different things such as where you live, your pet's species, age, breed and most importantly, the product you choose. As pet insurance is so specific to each and every pet, there is no fixed cost to insure your best friend so it's important to make sure you do some research to find out which policy suits you best both in terms of cost and benefits. Question 6

What does a Vet Bills claim excess mean?

The excess is the amount you need to contribute to the cost of a claim.

If you have our Essential plan your policy covers treatment costs for 12 months up to £3,000 per illness or injury. You would need to pay an excess for each illness/injury.

If you have a Covered For Life® plan you can claim up to the Vet Bills amount you chose - £4,000, £7,000 or £12,000 per year. You would need to pay an excess for each condition each policy year.

To help keep premiums affordable, as your pet gets older you will need to contribute more towards the cost of your claim. You'll pay 20% of all pet treatments on top of your fixed excess. We’ll remind you of this a year before it happens.

Will my premium increase if I make a claim?

With Petplan, you'll never pay more for claiming. Your price will increase every year due to a number of factors, such as greater risk of illness as your pet gets older, as well as the cost of vet bills increasing over time. However, our Claims Pricing Guarantee means that we'll never charge you more for claiming.

Question 8

What are the benefits of the Essential plan?

Accepted Answer

Our Essential plan provides short term help with vet bills. You can claim for 12 months treatment up to £3,000 for each illness/injury. Once you reach either of these limits the condition will no longer be covered.

We also provide a Covered For Life® plan which provides ongoing help with vet bills. You can continue to claim year after year for the same condition up to your chosen yearly limit providing you renew with no break in cover.

Question 9

I can’t find the Vet Bills claim form on your website

Accepted Answer

You can either submit a claim to us electronically or ask your vet to submit an eClaim to us on your behalf. We do send paper claim forms to vet practices that cannot submit eClaims. If you still need a paper form you can download an editable PDF claim form. Once completed by both yourself and your vet, please send it along with your invoices to claims@petplan.co.uk.

Does Petplan have a no claims discount?

As a responsible pet insurer we want to make sure you can always access the best care for your dog, cat or rabbit when they’re unwell or injured.
